NEVADA BLACK BEAR

LAND OF THE GIANTS

A BEAR HUNT UNLIKE ANY OTHER

With draw odds that rival those of bighorn sheep - and some of the largest black bears in the country - this is the bear hunt of a lifetime. Season dates start September 15 and run though December 1 each year. Here at Nevada Hunting Services this is our favorite big game hunt. We offer the opportunity to pursue giant bears with the traditional hunting method of hounds. Our passion for this hunt, and for the hounds who make it possible, is second to none.

Since the hunt’s inception in 2011 we have successfully guided our clients to thirteen of the largest hunter killed bears in the state, including the number one state record bear as well as the number two all time bear. Live weights on our bears vary but average 300 to 500 pounds, although we’ve helped hunters take bears weighing in excess of 600 pounds. Bear hunts are accomplished via “free-casting” hounds through bear habitat, rigging (using a scent hound to strike a fresh bear track from an elevated box while driving on dirt roads), and looking for tracks from vehicles.

This is a fast-paced, exciting hunt. Bear hunts are often extremely physical - in fact, they are among the most physically challenging hunts in Nevada - so be prepared to get in shape if you draw one of these coveted tags.
